The ocean sequesters about a third of human-made carbon dioxide. If the plankton can sink low enough in the ocean, that carbon could be stored – away from the atmosphere – for tens of thousands of years.

Tarun Narayan, Ph.D. ’16, of Antora Energy and Scott Zafiropoulo of Amprius urged more than 60 students – from undergrads to PhD. students – to pursue curiosity and cross-discipline collaboration.

This collaborative effort will enable large-scale analyses of the environmental and social trade-offs associated with dams and reservoirs, including hydropower production.
