The new SLAC-Stanford Battery Center will bridge the gap between fundamental science and the deployment of technology. It aims to enable translational research in electrochemical science and technology by leveraging the combined strengths of Stanford University, SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, and the innovation and entrepreneurial activity in Silicon Valley. Its ultimate goal is to accelerate the deployment of battery and energy storage technologies at scale as part of the energy transition to address climate change. The Battery Research Center aims to undertake translational research in batteries and energy storage technologies with the goal of developing a sustainable path for electrifying key economic sectors including transportation, the electric grid, industry, and manufacturing.

The launch event will feature leaders from industry, government, academia, national laboratories, and venture capital firms discussing the vision, unique strengths, and opportunities for accelerating next-generation energy storage technologies.

The workshop includes keynote lectures and panel discussions from experts and visionaries in the field of battery and energy storage and will provide an opportunity for a stimulating and lively discussion of how the center will accelerate the speed and increase the scale of battery innovation and technology transfer. We look forward to seeing you at SLAC in April.
