Research Overview

Stanford Energy supports and promotes energy related research across all seven schools at the university.  More than 200 Stanford faculty members - and their students, postdocs and technicians are engaged in six key areas of research: Renewable Energy, Fossil & Nuclear Energy, Energy Storage & Grid Modernization, End/Use Efficiency, Environmental Impacts and Policy & Economics.  This research is also supported through research centers and programs.

Energy research is directly funded by seed grants and exploratory programs.  For students, numerous opportunities are available to conduct research both within and outside the university.

Workshops and seminars are held throughout the year where research results are disseminated.  For those interested in finding experts to collaborate with, Stanford Energy maintains a searchable database of faculty and staff and their areas of expertise.
