Electric Vehicles
Main content start
Stanford researchers have and continue to contribute much to the electrification of vehicles. One project revealed that the charging of EVs needs to transition from at home at night to during the day at work or public charging stations. Another showed that charging lithium-ion cells at different rates boosts the lifetimes of battery packs for electric vehicles. Many scientists are working on improving lithium-ion batteries for charging EVs more quickly, extending range, and operating more safely. Others look to invent a new EV battery architecture and charge EVs wirelessly on highways.
