Renewable Fuels

Main content start

Renewable fuels are produced from renewable sources, like biofuels, and fuels that are synthesized using wind and solar power. The latter includes green hydrogen and recycling CO2 back into hydrocarbons, called synthetic or carbon-neutral fuels. Green hydrogen and CO2 utilization are in development. They account for a significant amount of sustainable energy research at Stanford.
