Energy supplies, especially fuel imported for domestic use and purchased for military use abroad, are central to national security for the United States and other countries. Stanford researchers study the effects of U.S. energy policies on national security, the military, nuclear power and other topics, including energy’s role in international law and diplomacy, Israeli development of offshore natural gas resources, threats to domestic nuclear power plants and the use of energy-economic models for evaluating energy security.
