Main content start

A major area of research at Stanford is the relative effectiveness of a carbon tax vs. cap-and-trade regulation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the energy sector. Other significant areas of regulatory research include policy changes for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and climate risk disclosure requirements. Legal research topics include the implementation of the energy aspects of laws, like the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act, as well as the effects of U.S. energy policies and laws on national security, the economy, politics, public opinion, deployment of renewable technologies on public land, and all forms of pollution.
