Fuel Cells

Main content start

Fuel cells produce electricity from fuels – most often hydrogen – without emitting greenhouse gases. Reversible fuel cells can also produce hydrogen from electricity. Stanford researchers are working on such fuel cell topics as catalysts that are more efficient and less expensive, proton exchange membranes, solid oxide or ceramic electrolytes, and economic analysis and optimization of fuel cell use.
