Power Electronics

Main content start

In contrast to the generation and transmission of electricity, power electronics control and convert of electricity. Conversion is performed with semiconductor switching devices such as diodes, thyristors, and power transistors. An AC/DC converter is the most typical power electronics device found in many consumer electronics. In industry, a common application is the variable speed drive for controlling an induction motor.
