Dr. Arun Majumdar

Dr. Arun Majumdar is the Jay Precourt Provostial Chair Professor at Stanford University, a faculty member of the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering (by courtesy) and Senior Fellow and former Director of the Precourt Institute for Energy. He is also a faculty in Department of Photon Science at SLAC.

Sally Benson

Sally M. Benson, who joined Stanford University in 2007, is the Precourt Family Professor in the Department of Energy Resources Engineering in the School of Earth, Energy & Environmental Sciences; she studies technologies and pathways to reducing greenhouse gas emissions including geologic storage of CO2 in deep underground formations and energy systems analysis for a low-carbon future. She is the Co-Director of the Stanford Center for Carbon Storage and the Stanford Carbon Removal Initiative.

Richard M Swanson

Richard Swanson received his BSEE and MSEE from Ohio State University in 1969 and his PhD from Stanford University in 1974. After completing his PhD, he joined the Electrical Engineering faculty at Stanford. His research investigated the semiconductor properties of silicon relevant for better understanding the operation of silicon solar cells. These studies have helped pave the way for steady improvement in silicon solar cell performance.

Blas L. Pérez Henríquez

Blas L. Pérez Henríquez is a Senior Research Scholar at the Precourt Institute for Energy at Stanford University and leads the Stanford | Mexico Clean Economy 2050 program. He founded and serves as Director of the California-Global Energy, Water & Infrastructure Innovation Initiative at Stanford University, sponsored by the Precourt Institute for Energy and the Bill Lane Center for the American West, and focusing on regional low-carbon development opportunities.

Joel Moxley

Joel Moxley is a Precourt Energy Scholar and Adjunct Professor at Stanford University. He currently teaches Stanford Climate Ventures (Energy 203). Joel received his B.S.E in chemical engineering from Princeton University, and his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Massachusetts Institute for Technology. He is a partner at Echelon Capital and a member of the investment team of Breakthrough Energy Ventures.

David Danielson

David T. Danielson became a Precourt energy scholar at Stanford in 2016. With Stuart Macmillan and Joel Moxley, Dave co-teaches the yearlong course "Energy Transformation Collaborative." This project-based course provides a launchpad for the creation and development of transformational energy ventures. Interdisciplinary student teams research, analyze and refine detailed plans for high-impact opportunities in the context of the new energy venture development framework offered in this course.

Esther Choi

Esther Choi is a Research Fellow at the Sustainable Finance Initiative (SFI) of the Precourt Institute for Energy at Stanford University. Her current research focuses on the role of blended finance in securing decarbonization pathways for emerging and developing countries. Her work has included topics such as policies and politics of climate change, green growth strategies and plans, and governance design for sustainable development.

Nilay Papila

Nilay Papila is the research manager for Hacking for Defense at Stanford University. Nilay’s expertise is in research management, pre- and post-award services, university and industry cooperation, technology transfer, intellectual property, and technology commercialization.
