Claus Ekman started his career in high energy nuclear physics with a Ph.D. from University of Copenhagen (2004) and a postdoc at the European Organization for Nuclear Physics, CERN in Geneva (2004-2007). A second postdoc at the Danish National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy (2007-2010) brought him into the energy and sustainability fields. He has since then worked 9 years for the Danish government, both as advisor in the Danish Energy Agency (2010-2024), as Energy Attaché at the Permanent Representation of Denmark to the OECD in Paris (2014-2017) and as Deputy Head of Department in the Danish Ministry for Climate, Energy and Utilities (2017-2018). From 2018 to 2022 he was executive director of Green Transition Denmark an NGO focused on climate and environmental regulation in Denmark and Europe. Since the summer 2022 Claus has been posted as Climate and Energy Attaché to the Danish foreign ministry’s general consulate in Palo Alto, California.
