Choon Fong Shih

Choon Fong Shih is professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and holds advisory roles with Peking University, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, CAS Holdings, Southern University of Science and Technology, and University Teknologi Petronas, among others. He was president of NUS (2000–2008) and subsequently founding president of King Abdullah University of Science & Technology, a graduate research university in Saudi Arabia, until 2013. Shih is a foreign member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences and U.S. National Academy of Engineering. Shih received the French decoration Chevalier in the Order of the Legion d'Honneur in 2005 and the inaugural Chief Executive Leadership Award for Asia Pacific from the Council for Advancement & Support for Education in 2007.
