Beginning more than a decade ago, many large energy customers began to want to use more renewable energy than was available on their local power grids. A new wave of voluntary, direct, renewable energy procurement driven by non-residential customers has added more than 20GW of new renewable energy to the grid in the last 5 years. This talk will explore corporate procurement of renewable energy and discuss the motivations of Facebook and other customers as we pursue ambitious renewable energy goals. We’ll also talk about the landscape of corporate procurement and some of the recent trends that are helping bring more renewable energy to the grid.
