Tuesday, September 8, 2020
4:00pm - 4:50pm PDT

proposal published in Joule for a new discipline called Macro-Energy Systems focused on studying the large-scale, systems-level, long-term aspects of sustainable and equitable energy systems. The article sparked interest from a wide range of researchers and students, recognizing the need for more recognition of this emergent field. At this energy seminar, organizers of the workshop will share their key findings from a workshop with a diverse team of researchers engaged in Macro-Energy Systems work. They will discuss this new discipline, its key questions and frontiers, the challenges of educating new researchers in this field, and the need for additional academic infrastructure to support the timely work happening in this community of researchers.
