Digital Grid Summer Webinars

On June 9-11, 2020, Bits & Watts and initiative member Electric Power Research Institute, (EPRI) co-hosted a three-day Digital Grid Virtual Workshop, with support from VMware, to bring together utility, high tech, and academic leaders to explore developing a data platform that would enable the "Digital Grid" vision. This workshop provided an opportunity for the technology community to better understand utility requirements and deployment plans, and for utilities to learn about technological capabilities to achieve an enabling data platform.

This was followed by a Digital Grid Summer Series, featuring eight panels diving deep into critical topics in grid digitalization. The collaboration combined Stanford’s focus on redeveloping the relationship between customers and the grid through innovation in business plans, policies, and end-user technologies, with EPRI’s objective to develop a research roadmap for a standardized data platform to interface customer distributed energy resources (DER) with the grid and inform collaborative research pathways.
